Rosenrot

Download Rosenrot Mp3
Rammstein's "Rosenrot" has some leftover material (six tracks in all) from the studio sessions of the album "Reise Reise", which I honestly did not care for that much compared to prior Rammstein releases. On this album however, I felt that the band had recorded some deeper, more atmospheric tunes that tended to get away from the addictive beats and rhythms that I again, experienced on past albums. Rosenrot also includes five new tracks besides the Reise Reise "B-sides".

The songs on here are a good mix of the driving, crunching formula of stomping chants and powerful riffs that we know the band can deliver, but also have a good number of songs that escalate more into a progressive feel. The album starts off with a staunch assault called "Benzin" that has an epic, haunting background of darkness that is backed by forceful guitars. The title track has catchy sounding lyrics that although make little sense to this listener (I don't speak German well) still comes across with great, daunting tone. Another great track that reflects some great guitar work. "Wo Bist Du" is a choppy, crashing tune and has an elegant if not dire synth sound in the background during the chorus parts.

The track "Zerstoren" will excite any Rammstein fan, as it's a fast, frenzied thrashing tune that never lets up in intensity. Eleven tracks in all, "Ein Lied" rounds out the list and is one of my favorites. It starts off slow with a small guitar piece playing along and slowly seeps into a sweeping, harrowing song that is not brutal but stays Melodic and soulful, and is backed by some ghostly singing in the background that one might find in an old Vincent Price film.

I'm not a Rammstein fanatic, just a big fan. Although some scoffed "Rosenrot", its versatile combination of edgy laden metal and drifting, slower paced tracks make it a solid album.

Reise, Reise

Download "Reise, Reise" here

Rammstein are one of those bands which do one thing and do it very well. In the case of the German band, it's making very loud, very deep-voiced metal music with a sly sense of humour every now and then. "Reise, Reise" is largely more of the same that we've come to expect from them after their three previous albums.

There are several standout tracks here. The opener and title track is based around what appears to have once been a sea-shanty, at least it seems to have been one before Till Lindemann's voice got onto it coupled with a wall of guitars. Nevertheless, the melody is more readily discernible than many previous Rammstein efforts.

Also of note is "Dalai Lama", a song about rather typical Rammstein subject matter - dead people. This one features the "dead voices" that often appear, and on the surface seems to be a rather standard track. However, there are two interesting aspects to it. Firstly, as other reviewers have pointed out, the title alludes to a certain famous Tibetan monk and his fear of flying (after being on the flight described by Till, I think I'd be a little concerned about boarding another plane as well). More interesting for some, however, will be the lyrical parallels with the famous German poem "Der Erlkoenig". In typical fashion, Rammstein adds a level of mordant and sadistic tragedy to the story that has to be heard to be believed.

Another interesting track is "Moskau", which features Russian vocals in places (written in Cyrillic script in the liner notes). This is a particularly speedy track and should certainly get pulses racing among fans of that sort of thing.

Till's interest in perversion manifests itself in the track "Mein Teil" (literally "My Part", which means...well...you work it out). This track is inspired by the Armin Meiwes cannibalism trial in Germany and, to my ears at least, has overtones of a much earlier Rammstein offering - "Herzeleid"'s "Laichzeit" in the chorus. Nevertheless, the shout-along chorus of "Denn du bist/Was du isst/Und ihr wisst/Was das ist" ("Then you are/what you eat/and you all know/what that is") is well worth the price of admission.

Unlike many other reviewers, I also quite enjoyed the single of "Amerika". There's something to be said for Till's vocals soaring over the lines "We're all living in America/Amerika ist wunderbar", all in all sounding reminiscent of "Sehnsucht"'s "Stripped".

Is there any progression from the incredible "Mutter"? Probably not. The sound is still basically the same and the subject matter likewise. More importantly, is there any real redeeming value in this album? Almost certainly not. Rammstein are still purveyors of very loud, very angry-sounding German metal of sorts. For a fan, the fact that most of the tracks here could be exchanged with those on any of the previous three albums is more than enough endorsement of this album. For those of you who can't stand the thought, stay well away.

Amerika Mp3

Download Amerika mp3
I do enjoy Rammstein, there music is pure hard make your ears bleed stuff that keeps the blood pumping. I am not to concerned about there politcal views of the US if this were a rap album they would be Player hating as the US cuture is what is shaping the world today as they show quite well in there video. I live in Germany and i dont seem to see many of the youth or adult culture here complaining about the US injections in there society, nor does Rammstein as they are making millions off of the US selling albums like this. What worries me is the large amount of uneducated peaple that listen to this album in the US and believe that is how we are as a peaple and country. The truth is is the Whole world is a melting pot of enterprises and we are only singled out because we dont compomise our political, social, and yes moral views to that of what the rest of the world wants. So if you live in the US and are writing things about how this song reflect us correctly take some hystory classes, if your in Germany or Europe in general and think it reflects the US correctly take some hystory classes. In short get an edjucation before addressing topics.

As far as the music ... take it for what it is a group of Germans that spend most of there time in NYC making millions off the ignorance of the youth of the world! Good song though!
